The Best Aimpoint for Your AR-15
What’s there to say about Aimpoint sights? They’re built like tanks and you don’t want to be left without one (on your AR of course!) if the zombie apocalypse ever rolls around.
All kidding aside, these are some of the best red dot sights that you can buy for your AR-15. So what did we do? We did the hard work for you and put together a list of the best Aimpoints for AR-15 out there right now.
This is a compact Aimpoint for your AR15. The mount is integrated into the bottom of the sight, giving a low profile red-dot scope that sits close to the bullet trajectory for a flatter sight profile at close range. The coating is amber in color, adding contrast to the sight picture. The dot is big, bright, and perfect for close quarters and quick target acquisition.
At 4 minutes of angle in size, the dot may prove too large for long range, but if you want the fastest time on target at close quarters, this is the sight for you. The brightness is adjustable, and the sight-in procedure is straightforward. Nothing fancy, aside from the integrated mount. The H-1 will feel right at home on a tactical AR15 for home defense.
The battery life is claimed at 50,000 hours, and how could you argue with that? It’s five years of continuous use, so if you forget to turn it off after your range session, no problem.
Waterproof to 80 feet, 13 brightness settings, integrated mount, and simple to use. The Micro T-1 has a 2 MOA dot that will serve wonderfully at longer ranges by blotting out less of your target, allowing for more precise aiming. Coatings on the glass allow you to get maximum brightness from the dot without sacrificing battery power, so this is another long battery-life sight that is compatible with all of the Aimpoint add-ons.
On a close quarters AR15, or even a plinker for the range, this is a fantastic battle sight. You can squeeze whatever range your eyes will handle out of this little dot, and never have to worry about it going dim when you need it the most.
There’s not a bad price on it right now on Amazon either.
3. Aimpoint M4 2 MOA ACET CompM4 Sight
If you are looking for something fancier to adorn your AR15, then look no further. The CompM4 sight is rugged looking and ready for action. A 2MOA dot makes for quick sighting at close range while allowing precision targeting at range.
A power source for this sight can be found at the local gas station, or anywhere that sells AA batteries. The octagonal battery tube holds a single battery, which is all the power you need to get through years of shooting. Just try not to leave it out in direct sunlight, and remove the battery if it won’t be used for a long time, as AA batteries are notorious for leaking if left alone for years.
Ships with a mount, and turns your AR15 into a futuristic looking tactical weapon, with the ruggedness and precision of Aimpoint to back it up. It’s a little heavier than the smaller Aimpoints, and bulkier, but a terrific sight, nonetheless.
If you want to make a sighting system more adaptable to the environment you place it in, add lens caps. No need to go shopping around, this sight comes with them. It boasts a 2 MOA bright dot, with the standard intensity setting, and runs off of a lithium button battery, with incredibly long life. It’s light, rugged, and includes Aimpoint’s integrated mounting system.
If you plan on shooting through the winds and dust out west, you know that keeping your optics protected when they aren’t in use is a must. It’s also perfect if you are a soldier being deployed to some desert country and need to ensure that your sight will be ready to go when you need it. The dust caps fold back, so they won’t interfere with your vision if you lean close to your sight.
It’s also going for a steal right now on Amazon.
