The Stack-On is a fantastic budget-friendly in-wall gun cabinet that does not sacrifice quality to achieve a lower price point.
Inside, you will find two padded shelves you can place at varying heights, ensuring you have plenty of space to store laser sights, handguns, ammo, and extra magazines.
For those who have larger tactical weapons, this safe not only provides additional height and depth but provides extended barrel rests to ensure every firearm is tucked away nice and safe.
The low-profile design makes this safe inconspicuous on its own, but also easy to conceal behind a mirror or picture if you so desired.
The hinges are cleverly placed inside, making it difficult, though not impossible, for an individual to pry the safe open. Unlike some of its counterparts, this safe relies on a standard 3-point locking system and key, but the lock itself is sturdy and well-built.
Installation can be a bit tricky since the safe is constructed to be placed in between two studs and then screwed into the studs on the sides. Since the fit is intended to be snug, it may be a good plan to have a few shims on hand to give you some extra wiggle room.

The V-line, while one of the more expensive in-wall safes on our list, is an excellent option for those with AR-style firearms or rifles.
The tall height combined with the narrow width makes this perfect for rifles or tactical guns, but less practical for smaller handguns or those seeking storage for accessories in addition to their firearms.
The locking mechanism uses a 5-digit code rather than a key, but also includes two additional keyed locks on the top and bottom of the door to ensure maximum security.
Unlike many other quick access locks, the V-line does not require batteries, guaranteeing you can access the safe anytime you’d like without fail.
The thinner design makes this an excellent choice to fit behind a door or even in a closet, making it easy to conceal. The slim design of this safe also makes it an excellent option for those also looking for a safe they can fit in their jeep or pickup to store firearms while on hunting trips.
One thing to note is that while this is an excellent safe for storage, it is not fireproof, nor is it waterproof. V-line also says the safe is pry-resistant, but the 16-gauge steel it is built with, while sturdy, feels very light-weight.
Based on this, we believe that while it is well-built, there is a good likelihood that a determined intruder could force it open if enough force is applied.
Protex PWS-1814E Electronic Keypad Wall Safe
The PWS-1814E is a great mid-range option for those seeking storage for their handguns. Similarly to the Stack-on, the PWS-1814E is designed to be mounted between two studs, so cutting into drywall will be necessary.
However, anticipating how frustrating it is to re-plaster the wall surrounding the safe after installation, Protex includes a flange that makes this step unnecessary.
The PWS-1814E has an electronic lock, but lacks a handle. The door will open automatically once the correct code is entered. That feature, in addition to the two chrome bolts on the interior, make this safe an excellent choice for those looking for a burglary resistant safe.
On the inside, you will find a soft, velvet lining to ensure none of your firearms or their accessories are scratched, as well as two removable shelves for storage.
The battery pack is placed externally to prevent you from being locked out, and the safe also has a master key. The design is low-profile, so it’s inconspicuous and easy to disguise if you so choose.
The PWS-1814E is not fireproof, nor is it waterproof, so if you are seeking either of those things, this may not be the best choice for you. Also, this safe is geared towards smaller firearms, so it is not suited for hunting or tactical rifles.
