It isn’t the cheapest mounting solution for your SKS, and depending on where you got your rifle, this one might cost more than you paid for it. But it’s made in the USA, precision cast from machined steel. The top rail is long, and sits directly over the ejection port, stretching forward over the receiver.
A shell deflector is built in, providing a mounting solution and protection for your glass all in one go. The feature that really makes this scope mount stand out, thought, is the deep channel running the length of the picatinny rail, which acts as a rear sight.
Just because you remove the back sight on your SKS, doesn’t mean you need a complete reconfiguration to go back to irons. All you have to do is remove the scope and mounting rings, and you are ready to go hunting. The mount locks to the receiver with four bolts, so it will hold solid, even after abuse from hot brass. The included screws are threaded for a standard 8-32 tap that you can find at most hardware stores, so if you have the means, you can install this yourself. As far as the functioning of the shell deflector, bounce-backs don’t appear to be a problem.

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, and you don’t want to spend more money and time going down to the local gunsmith to have your equipment machined, then this mount might work for you. The whole thing is machined from a single piece of solid steel and coated for wear-resistance.
The mount itself has a high profile, giving you some elevation to play with while zeroing for longer distances, but many people just want something simple and low to the action. It’s a personal preference, but if you like them high, then you’ll love this.
One benefit is that the high mounting comes with a channel, allowing you to use your front post for sighting, but I wouldn’t really recommend it. I don’t like peeking under scopes. The side slots are adjustable to ensure a proper fit to your rifle, though you may need to file a bit on the prongs for a perfect fit.
The good part though, is that you won’t have to drill or tap anything, and once in place, there’s really nothing else to be done, except toss a scope on top and go shooting.
