This model is incredibly light, weighing in at 10.4 ounces, and it attaches vial swivel stud. For the extra money, you are getting an incredibly build, super sturdy mount. Harris Engineering is trusted as a leader in this area, and if there’s one thing to say about this mount, it would be that it won’t let you down.

Caldwell XLA Pivot Model Bipod

Available in various sizes, Caldwell mounts are strong and light. Legs spring to action at the touch of a button. When you’re ready to shoot, you don’t need to be bothered with extra setup time. It’s fully rust proof, very stable, and the taller versions provide you with tons of ground clearance, but they also reduce the ability to shoot from prone.

On the downside, the springs are not perfect. You have plenty of weight savings to spend, so if you are the tinkering type, heavier springs would be an easy mod to make things a little nicer. The extended range of the bipod unfortunately also means that it doesn’t have a low setting for shooting from a prone position, so if you like laying on your belly, then this isn’t likely the scope for you.

If you want a Harris bipod, with it’s wonderful quality, but you’d like a taller model than the BRM, this LM model is probably what you are looking for. It extends, in one inch increments, to over a foot tall, and with the same ruggedness that you will find in the smaller version.

Super high quality, taller mount, and still only 11.2 ounces. How do they do it? Your guess is as good as mine. Unfortunately, we all know that no matter how well built, you can’t dodge physics forever.

The taller mount means that unfortunately, no matter how well they construct it, you simply aren’t going to get the same solid feeling that you get from the shorter version. But it’s probably sturdier than any other bipod you are going to find in this height range, unless you up the weight substantially.
